About Tamara Houtveen

Nice to meet you! My name is Tamara Houtveen and I work as an illustrator and pattern designer. I live and work in Leusden, near Amersfoort (the Netherlands).

In addition to my work experience as an illustrator, I also have a lot of experience as an in-house graphic designer and visual designer. I graduated from HKU in Digital Media Design (Bachelor of arts & technology). With my broad experience, I can support you well in both the illustrations ánd the graphic and technical side of the process.

I like to give my illustrations a handmade feel, even though I prefer to work digitally in Procreate and Photoshop for projects. By working with handmade textures and looser lines, the illustration becomes more unique.

Do you need a vector illustration for your project? No problem, because I can also work in Adobe Illustrator. These illustrations and patterns have a cleaner and more polished look, but are perfect for some printing methods or manufacturer specifications.

My work is colorful and cheerful. I like to illustrate happy characters and animals. Additionally, I always try to add a touch of humor to my work and I love ‘easter eggs’ in illustrations.

When I’m not working on illustrations, you can find me in the vegetable garden or I like to go to a museum. I also have a love for vintage items, sustainability, and enjoy hiking.

My clients include: moses. Verlag, Westfalenstoffe, Kjekk&Søt, Vintage In My heart, Wrappily, Thomas Editions, I Am A Bookworm and many more.
