Let your story come to life with my colorful and cheerful illustrations! My specialization lies in creating illustrations for babies, toddlers, and young children. I’m happy to help you with illustrations that stimulate the imagination and curiosity of young readers.

I mainly create my illustrations digitally, but I also like to add a handmade touch to give the illustration some extra personality. Do you prefer vector illustrations? I can help you with that too.

Need support with the (graphic) design of your book? No problem! With my extensive experience in laying out documents and all knowledge of software such as Adobe, I can assist you with that.

How Does it Work?

  1. Get in touch: you can email me at mail@tamarahoutveen.com or call: +31 6 284 923 16.
  2. We’ll schedule a meeting for a discussion (via Zoom or in person) where we’ll go over your wishes and goals for the illustration together. I’ll ask you a number of questions to get a clear idea of what you want. And of course, I’m happy to brainstorm with you.
  3. After our meeting, I’ll make a quote for you. Do we have an agreement? Then I’ll ask for a deposit and start working on the sketches. We start with ‘thumbnail’ sketches first, which I then develop into more detailed sketches.
  4. Feedback on the sketches? No problem! We’ll discuss together what adjustments you’d like to make.
  5. I’ll make the adjustments to the sketches and send them to you. Completely satisfied? Then I’ll proceed with the illustration.
  6. Do you want to make further changes to the layout or illustrations? No problem! Usually, we agree on 1 round of adjustments per project.
  7. At the end of the project, I’ll deliver the files in the desired file formats.

How much does it cost?

I’d like to give you a standard price, but no project I undertake is ‘standard’. The price for an illustration or project depends on several factors, such as:

  •  the scope of the project, including the quantity of illustrations
  • the style of the illustrations
  • the execution (size of the illustration and factors like color usage)
  • the usage (commercial or non-profit)
  • licensing agreements
  • any additional agreements we make (quantity of sketches and rounds of revisions)
